This release captures Metallica in their earliest and rawest form. Metal Up Your Ass compiles the legendary July nineteen eighty-two “No Life ’Til Leather” demo recordings, tracked at Chateau East Studio in California, when the band still featured Ron McGovney on bass and Dave Mustaine on lead guitar.

The demo that launched a movement—“Hit The Lights,” “The Mechanix,” “Seek And Destroy,” “Phantom Lord,” and more—circulated through the underground tape-trading network and helped establish Metallica as leaders of the emerging thrash metal scene. Side B closes with the original “Hit The Lights” version from the Metal Massacre compilation.

This is the pink vinyl edition, limited to three hundred copies. It contains the demo recordings plus the bonus track as listed, and is not the mispress edition that substitutes the Kill ’Em All album.
