Led by Chuck Schuldiner, the band's early work synthesized the raw brutality of thrash metal with increasingly sophisticated songwriting and musicianship. New Rochelle, NY 12.03.1988 documents a live performance from the tail end of the Leprosy era, capturing Death at a pivotal moment when they were refining the uncompromising vision that would define their legacy.

This recording preserves the band's live command of material from their first two studio albums, featuring the methodical death march of "Leprosy," the grotesque imagery and grinding riffs of "Open Casket," and the hypnotic groove of "Zombie Ritual." Schuldiner's vocal intensity and the band's precision—evident in the stop-start brutality of "Pull The Plug" and the controlled chaos of "Left To Die"—demonstrate why Death stood apart from their peers. The set captures the claustrophobic, mechanistic atmosphere of their studio work translated to a live setting, where every tempo shift and discordant passage lands with visceral impact.

This 2022 vinyl edition presents the New Rochelle performance across two records as a limited pressing, allowing the full concert to breathe across the format while maintaining the fidelity of the source material. The package includes a white paper inner sleeve and comes shrink-wrapped with a transparent sticker, preserving the visual presentation of the jacket artwork.
