Deicide's Once Upon The Cross arrived in 1995 as a landmark death metal statement, cementing the band's position as one of the genre's most uncompromising and provocative voices. The album represents a peak moment in their catalog—a document of raw, technically precise brutality paired with lyrical content that courted controversy at every turn. This reissue brings the record back into vinyl circulation with remastered audio that honors the original's crushing production.

The title track opens with gospel organ before collapsing into blast beats and tremolo riffing that sets the album's unrelenting pace. Standout cuts like "Christ Denied," "When Satan Rules His World," and "Kill The Christian" showcase Deicide's gift for marriage of melodic death metal sensibilities with explicit anti-religious rhetoric. "Trick Or Betrayed" and "They Are The Children Of The Underworld…" underscore the band's structural sophistication—these aren't simple one-note attacks but layered compositions with dynamic shifts and intricate drumming that demand repeated listens. The record thrives in its refusal to soften or compromise, maintaining a suffocating atmosphere of aggression across its runtime.

This remastered vinyl edition restores clarity to the original mix without sacrificing the album's weight and density. Pressed on vinyl and housed in detailed packaging, it's the definitive physical format for experiencing one of death metal's most defiant records.
