Originally released in nineteen sixty-nine, King Crimson's In The Court Of The Crimson King is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential albums in the history of progressive rock. Blending symphonic arrangements, jazz influences, and experimental songwriting, the record helped define the emerging progressive rock movement of the late nineteen sixties.
The album features the explosive opener “21st Century Schizoid Man,” the haunting ballad “Epitaph,” and the majestic title track “The Court Of The Crimson King,” all driven by Robert Fripp’s innovative guitar work and the band’s signature Mellotron textures. With its dramatic compositions and surreal lyrical themes by Peter Sinfield, the album remains a cornerstone of the progressive rock genre.
This reissue presents the original stereo mix newly cut from masters approved by Robert Fripp and pressed on 200-gram heavyweight vinyl. Housed in a gatefold sleeve, the release preserves the iconic Barry Godber cover artwork that has become one of the most recognizable images in rock history.
