Melvins – The Maggot & The Bootlicker combines two of the band’s most experimental 1999 releases into one heavyweight 2LP colored vinyl set. Originally conceived as companion albums, The Maggot delivers repetitive, hypnotic sludge minimalism, while The Bootlicker explores a looser, groove-heavy and more accessible side of the band — showcasing the Melvins’ ability to deconstruct rock conventions from multiple angles.

This 2019 reissue from Ipecac Recordings comes pressed on white vinyl (The Maggot) and green “Doublemint” vinyl (The Bootlicker), housed in a gatefold sleeve with black inner sleeves and a download card. Produced at Louder Studios in San Francisco in January 1999, these recordings capture King Buzzo, Dale Crover, and Kevin Rutmanis at a creatively fearless peak.
