Originally released in nineteen eighty-two, R.E.M.'s Chronic Town is the band’s debut EP and a cornerstone of early alternative rock. Recorded in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the release captures the raw, jangly sound that would soon define the Athens, Georgia scene and influence an entire generation of indie bands.
