Sonic Youth’s groundbreaking experimental release Goodbye 20th Century returns in this 25th Anniversary Edition on double LP. Originally recorded in 1999 and issued as part of the band’s SYR (Sonic Youth Recordings) series, this project sees the group interpreting avant-garde and modern classical compositions from the 20th century.

Featuring works by John Cage, Steve Reich, Christian Wolff, Yoko Ono, Cornelius Cardew, Pauline Oliveros, and others, the album captures Sonic Youth’s deep engagement with experimental composition, minimalism, and indeterminate music. Produced with Jim O’Rourke and percussionist William Winant, the recordings were made in New York City between March and August 1999.

This 2024 reissue features eggplant-purple printing on the sleeve with black vinyl, pressed at RTI and lacquer cut by RJ.
