Tears For Fears released Songs From The Big Chair in 1985, establishing themselves as one of the decade's defining pop-rock acts. The album cemented their transition from synth-pop experimentalists to mainstream hitmakers, balancing introspective songwriting with lush, radio-friendly production. This 2014 reissue brings the landmark record back to vinyl, making the band's most commercially successful and artistically confident work available to both longtime collectors and new listeners.

The record opens with the propulsive energy of "Shout," a track that defined mid-80s pop-rock with its layered synths and urgent vocal delivery. Elsewhere, "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" remains the album's centerpiece—a masterclass in accessible melodic pop with underlying complexity. "The Working Hour," "Mothers Talk," and "I Believe" showcase the band's range, moving between driving rhythm tracks and more contemplative arrangements, while "Broken…" reveals the emotional vulnerability threaded throughout. The album's production favors crisp drums, atmospheric keyboards, and Roland Orsini's distinctive dual-vocal approach, creating a sound that feels both precisely engineered and deeply human.

This European 180-gram vinyl pressing restores the album's analog warmth and dynamic range, bringing out details in the original mix that digital formats compress. The packaging includes a download voucher for the MP3 version, offering flexibility alongside the superior sound quality of the vinyl format itself.
